Rhine Legions. Anonymous, circa May/June-December 68. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.57 g, 5 h), uncertain mint in Gaul or in the Rhine Valley. 'Virtus-Roma Group' - 'Jupiter Group', Style A. ROMA RESTITVTA Head of Roma to right, wearing crested helmet. Rev. IVPPITER LIBERATOR Jupiter seated left on throne, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and scepter in his left. BMC 19. CG 26.2 (this coin). Cohen 374. Martin 20. Nicolas 19. RIC 62. Very rare. Beautifully toned and with a fine pedigree. Somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.
